L’ENSEMBLE CHAMBER MUSIC GROUP PRESENTS 2017 CONCERT SERIES, MARCH 12 AND APRIL 23,

IN RESIDENCE AT BENNINGTON’S OLDCASTLE THEATRE

BENNINGTON, VT (February 21, 2017) -- Renowned L’Ensemble chamber musical group will present an upcoming two-part concert series, celebrating its fourth season in residence at Oldcastle Theatre.

“Schubert: Follow the Lied,” featuring the music of Franz Schubert, Heidi Jacob and John Harbison, will be performed Sunday,  March 12 at 3 p.m.; “Shadows on a Screen,” with music from film scores by Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Enrico Morricone, Henry Mancini and John Williams, will be given Sunday, April 23 at 3 p.m. Oldcastle Theatre is located at 331 Main St., Bennington, VT.

Highlights of the “Follow the Lied” program will include Schubert's music for voice, french horn, violin, cello and piano, as well as two modern works based on the music of Schubert--”but time will tell,” a piece for solo piano by Heidi Jacob (composer, cellist, and conductor Jacob is Associate Professor of Music at Haverford College); and “November 19, 1828,” a work for piano, violin, viola and cello by well-known Boston composer John Harbison.

The performers will be Ida Faiella, Soprano; Charles Abramovic, Piano; Joseph Anderer, French Horn; Dale Stuckenbruck, Violin; and Jesse Levy, Cello. This marks a L'Ensemble debut for Anderer, who is the Principal Horn of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

The performers for the April 23 “Shadows on a Screen” concert will be Ida Faiella, Soprano; Lincoln Mayorga, Piano/Arranger; and Dale Stuckenbruck, Violin.

Singer Ida Faiella, pianist and arranger Lincoln Mayorga, violinist Ashley Horne,

Saxophonist Bruce Williamson and bassist Otto GARDNER

- A program of songs "written by grown-ups for grown-ups" including music of Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim

and even songs by Faiella and Mayorga.

Composer/lyricists Porter and Sondheim are unarguably two of the greatest contributors to the Great American Songbook:

Porter’s “Night an Day,” “So in Love” and “Too Darn Hot,” and Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns,” “Being Alive” and “I’m Still Here” only begin to hint at the songwriters’ wit and range. Fittingly, the theatre space will be transformed into a cabaret setting, with wine and refreshments courtesy of L’Ensemble and Oldcastle Theatre.
